So apparently my parents have completely lost it. They think they can force me into getting married? I'd like to see that, really. I mean, it's not that I'm opposed to marrying an acceptable, tolerable pureblood at some point. But if they think they're making that choice for me, well they've got another thing coming. And before you all think I'm a ridiculous sap who thinks I'm going to fall in love someday, don't be idiots. Love is a delusion and leads to nothing but weakness and clouded judgment. If I'm seeking anything in a potential husband, it would be that he doesn't drive me to homicide.

Or that if he does, at least he's willing to partake in said homicide. Obviously, my hand in marriage is not for the squeamish.

Thankfully, I'm able to make my own decisions about marriage. I think love is possible though only when your partner has the same views. Courting is really rather fun if you ask me. It gives me something to occupy my time and I find being able to trust someone else is oddly satisfying.

Oh, I'll make my own decisions in the end. My parents can entertain whatever notions they like, but I'll sooner be disowned than be forced to live with someone I loathe. Can't say I've ever been courted, though. Haven't exactly sought out the opportunities. I can think of about two dozen things I'd rather do than pretend to be someone I'm not so that some man I couldn't give a whit about will find me interesting. If there's someone who shares my interests and that isn't completely intolerable, I'm not sure courting would be necessary. Marriage is a business arrangement, I would just prefer to be able to stand being around my business.

Pretending I'm someone I'm not is something I would never do. That's why I found someone I can not only tolerate, but actually like. We're actually fairly similar in our likes and dislikes. I want to make sure the person I'm going to spend the rest of my life beside is someone I won't find dreadfully boring after a few weeks. Thus far, I'm very satsified in my current courtship.

I'm sure your parents are only trying to do their best in their own short mindedness.

Yes, well they should focus their energy elsewhere. I manage on my own quite well. Your family hasn't begun talks of binding and ridiculous social contracts yet, have they? I'm sure they're dying for grandchildren as well.

My family started that years ago, actually. So far there haven't been any subjects deemed suitable.

My parents were supposedly in "negotiations" with some 35-year-old from Romania. I met him once. He is absolutely stupid. Those negotiations were ended.

Were they? I do hope they ended on pleasant enough terms. Though I'm sure you'd have enjoyed ending them on more creative terms.
